MERMAID (BEGINNER)

Dive into the mystical and captivating world of mermaids with the PADI Mermaid™ course. This enchanting program expands your knowledge of the underwater world and offers additional routine, exhibition, and problem-handling skills, allowing you to develop dynamic mermaid skills beyond the Basic Mermaid™ level. The course includes knowledge development and at least two water skill sessions that help you express yourself as an underwater artist with skills distinct from other types of diving.

With the PADI Mermaid course, you will be able to explore the underwater realm like never before. As an entry-level course, you don't need any prior diving experience, but you must be in good physical health, at least ten years old (parental permission and presence at all times is mandatory), and able to swim at least 50m/160ft without swim aids while floating comfortably at the surface for five minutes.

The course is divided into two phases: knowledge development and two confined water sessions to prepare you for mermaiding, rescue/problem management skills, and conduct of mermaid dives. You will learn mermaid-specific skills like dolphin (butterfly) kicks, C-shape and U-shape side turns, backward somersault turns, underwater handshaking mermaid bubbles, and back glides.

The PADI Mermaid eLearning is currently available in English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia, and Bahasa Melayu, and uses a monofin, mask, snorkel, and fins as the main equipment. The course recommends using gear specifically designed for mermaiding, but beginners may use their existing snorkeling equipment.
