UNDERWATER NATURALIST (CONTINUING EDUCATION)

Explore the underwater world like never before with the PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty course. Gain a deeper understanding of the local ecosystem and its aquatic plant and animal habitats. By learning about symbioses and underwater ecology, you'll notice behaviors and see creatures you may have previously missed, even on the most familiar dive sites. With this course, you'll get to discover key differences between the terrestrial and aquatic worlds, as well as major aquatic life groupings and interactions, all while fostering a love and respect for the underwater world. Responsible interactions with aquatic life are also taught, ensuring that you leave no negative impact on the environment.

As a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver, aged 10 years and above, you're eligible to take this course. Equip yourself with a slate and pencil to record your observations and a dive light to better see into cracks and crevices. Pick up your PADI Underwater Naturalist Manual at your local dive shop, read it, fill out the Knowledge Review, and then you're ready to meet with your PADI Instructor and plan your underwater naturalist dives. The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course may also credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification, so ask your instructor about earning credit.
